Blur
Divine Comedy
Beth Orton (2), Kevin Rowland, Fun Lovin' Criminals (2), Cerys Matthews - Catatonia
Leeds 99, part of the Reading/Leeds two site festival, played host to a top-notch line up on the second day. Beth Orton did a fine set and the 'lobster' joke first. Kevin Rowland lost the plot big time as he sang cheesey karaoke in between acting out soft porn. Fun Lovin' Criminals did their thing well enough but attracted too much moshing for it to be fun or lovable. Catatonia were fine but never seemed to recover from when Cerys couldn't work out the reason for the strange audience reaction when she told the same 'lobster' joke.
Two personal highlights; 1) Divine Comedy, who played a good mix of old and new, some of which Neil said was unlikely to be played live again and 2) Blur, who also mixed in songs from all albums. I could of done with more of the new stuff but there you go. Funniest bit was when Graham had to own up to switching off his amp by mistake which had caused the band to gring to a halt mid-Trimm Trabb.
Photos - hope you like 'em. Not exactly professional quality but I've seen worse. As the day wore on I got closer (yay!) but it also got darker (boo!) so things peaked with D.C. and got a bit, well, blurred by the time Blur came on.
